KENYA – Follow the Herds: Witness the Wild in Motion

The migration to the Masai Mara and the Serengeti is one of the most spectacular natural events on the planet. More than two million animals, mostly wildebeest, but also zebras and gazelles, take part in the annual round trip of more than 1,000 km, covering an area of more than 24,000 km².

This migration is not random, the animals follow the rainy cycle, looking for fresh grazing and water. At the same time, migration plays a key role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems.

Behind the magnificent scene of the stampede hides a harsh reality, every river crossing can mean a fight for life, and predator attacks leave images that will not be forgotten.

The Annual Migration:

January – March: Southern Serengeti
This is the calving season – thousands of wildebeest cubs are born every day. This attracts numerous predators such as lions, hyenas and cheetahs.

April – May: The Central Serengeti
During the rainy season, the herds move north and west, leaving behind the grazing plains of the south.

June – July: Western Serengeti
Herds face challenging river crossings, especially the Grumeti River, where they are lurked by crocodiles.

August – September: Masai Mara (Kenya)
The most dramatic moment of migration – crossing the Mare River.
Huge herds face rapids and predators, while thousands of tourists watch the scene.

October – November: Return to the south
After an exhausting journey, the herds return to the southern Serengeti where the cycle will begin again.

We sleep inside the reserve, without waiting at the gates. The campsites are located on the Mari River. We follow the migration in real time, with local guides. Small groups, more space, more silence, more nature. Possibility to see the river crossing from the first row.

The Great Migration is not a spectacle that is directed, it is the energy of life in motion, without repetition and without guarantees. But when everything comes together, the place, the time and you, there is a scene that will be remembered for a lifetime. We know where you need to be to see it.
